Not just for the bus, but for all my vehicles...

My trusty floor jack started leaking so I was looking for another one. Harbor Fright has one “on special” for $179. Itching to go get it, decided to stop at the Price Club first. Found this beauty for half that! $90.

Image

The Harbor Fright claimed a lift from 3.75” to almost 24”. This one goes from 3” to 20”. Will do just fine!

Went out to start the SC and no go!
It had been sitting for some time and after a while the battery gave out.
Jumped it with my Tundra and still no start.
Seemed like it wasn't getting any gas.
Ran some checks on the fuel pump and it would pump fuel,
just not from the gas tank. Before William makes a smart a$$ comment, there was gas in the tank!
We all know it is easier for the fuel pump to suck air that a liquid.
The culprit was a dried out fuel line from the tank.
I have never changed that line in 15+ years.
Installed all new fuel lines and all is good!

After all the tire drama here, what tires did you actually get?

So the tires are Nokian eNTYRE 205/70/15 XL out of Russia. These are the only tires that I could find for a decent price around here that someone could get and they have a 70,000 mile warranty on them. I could have put a standard load tire on it but I would be scared to drive it on the roads in the mountains or on the freeway. I believe the tires that were on it were SL. Yes I would have loved to put the BFGoodrich AT tires on it but my pockets are not that deep.

These are the same tires the guy at Evans Tire is putting on his VW motorhome since he has 15" wheels also.

I have yet to drive it around town or anywhere really so I have no comment on them yet. I will be driving the bus every chance I get this weekend.

The "56" on the 56!!

Image

So I was planing on taking Slayer to the show this weekend in Imperial Beach.
It hasn't been running to well as of late. Backfiring out the carb and not to much power.
I would push on the excel peddle and no revs at all.
So I pulled the carb and did a rebuild on the 30 pict 1, had all the needed stuff already.
Fired right up, sounded pretty good, still backfired and a popping sound out the carb.
Took it for a ride, thing was running great on the freeway zoooooooming right along.
THEN it lost power, tried to start, it wanted to start, something was very wrong.
Towed it home, when I got it home it started and I was able to get it on the side of the house.
Did a quick compression test and #1, 110psi #2, 120psi #3 was 20psi and I did not check #4 I will today.
I will pull the rocker and see if I can see anything. When I adjusted the valves a while back #3 gave me a hard time.

So I got the stock beam in the SC on Saturday and also yanked the shift rod so I can grind off the coupler that would not come off resulting in me having to cut the shift rod. Went to put the trans in the SC but it seems the nose cone rubber bracket doesn't fit on the trans. So not sure if I can spare the time to find a mount that works or if I just need to make a trip to Sergio's and do a swap with my old trans.

No dog house cooler just a standard cooler for a single port!

Think you cooked the cylinders or the head?

on another note when I drove the camper this weekend I hit a speed bump hard (forgot it was there because it is new) and it knocked something loose in my brakes. The brakes were harder to apply and I could hear something rubbing against the drum when I did press the brake. So now I have to pull the brakes apart to figure out why.
