Don't lie to yourself, 'cause you ain't fooling me! [-X

I'll be loading Thursday night and cruising up around noonish or so Friday. Takes roughly an hour to get up to KQ since it is exactly 55 miles from their gate to my driveway!

Any locals or others feel free to join me around 11 am.

Found a cool road for the cruise. Looks like it is passable as the are a few houses. , it's called Volcan Mt. road. We would take the highway toward Julian, then the 78 Banner Grade to Wynola Eoad, then exit Farmer Road to Volcan Mt Road. Which makes a big loop through woods and scrub on a packed dirt road. Anyone ever taken this?

I've taken Wynola Road a few times, it's paved but wound up tight in a few places. How long is the dirt road and where does it come out to? Sounds like a "short trip", some would like it. :-k

It winds back pretty far, maybe as long as the dirt road we took in the last that ends up in Descanso?

Here it is, Tues. and KQ is in 3 days. Me generator light will not go off!
I have done what I can, without swapping out the gen or the vr.
Cleaned the armature, brushes etc. still light is on.

any suggestions?
I may have to drive the SC?

You could just have a bad VR! Disconnect the VR from the generator and hook a bolt meter up to the generator and see if it is putting out. You might get lucky and it's just the VR.

Just went through the same with the Plump Truck! The light was staying on for a while after starting, every day taking longer until last week when it would not go off altogether. Was at work and thought it was the regulator so I stopped at veeparts on my way home. After swapping it, that did NOT help! :x

Put the meter to the generator and it was barely pushing 8 volts at idle and almost 12 at high revs. It was then that I looked at the brushes. Totally worn out! Got a new set put on (not easy at all with the engine in) and that solved it! \:D/

So, I have a "spare" regulator now.

ATTENTION all locals who usually take the 67 through Lakeside to go to KQ!!!! Word has it that it will be CLOSED both ways through that area during the whole weekend! Check to make sure you will not be held up and/or find a way around it! :-s

Just charge you battery up and bring a spare charged up, more than enough juice to get you up and back.
