MOFOCO heads have been around for a long time. They've had up'N'downs but seem to have it figured out now. This thread is on a new set being "dyno'd" with results and comments.

I was over at Pyros on Sat. I wanted him to look at my heads and jugs from the motor in my camper.
It has been blowing oil quite bad. We never discussed brand name for heads.
I have one VW head and one Br.
I went home and went on line to look for heads, I found Mofoco heads.
Made in the USA they look really good, but as we know looks can be deceiving.
I have some questions..

I'm not sure what heads I would need, 040 (i have 040 now), 041, 042??
and different set up in each category?
Not sure what "Please specify CC (up to10cc, up to 20cc) in the order notes section during checkout" is?
Also what is "flycutt"?
In your humble opinion, knowing my engine, which head do you believe is best for my set up?

The 040 should be good enough for your engine. Normally a 55cc chamber is good. I really don't understand what they mean by "10" or "20"!?! Maybe a bigger chamber?

Also, though their base price seems reasonable, I'm not liking their "stainless valves ad $xx." Maybe a check at CB performance is in order. CB also has a new head called "Panchitos" which touts to be a very good "street" head. Need to look at their valve set up and pricing.

The last set I got are 94s but with stock valves.

I did a lot of reading recently on engine gunk when researching my own project 1800 mini stroker and the panchitos sounded like they were the local fave on the Samba.
MOFOCO I would stay away from just from past rep.

Well I am having my heads redone, full valve job by the same company that built the engine 4-5 yrs ago.
The heads looked ok, just need some attention.
They should be ready Fri.
Also just going to hone the cylinders and put on new rings.
I'm saving more than $500. not going all new!!
