So I was driving the SO42 today and went to stop off and get something for my son. As I pulled into the parking lot, the bus died. No warning. I was rolling still so I tried to bump start it since it is real easy to bump start. No luck. So I push it into a parking spot and continue on into the store to get the items for my son. I come out and tried to start it and nothing. Not even a hint that it wants to start. Engine turns but no spark. I then try to push start it. Same as before nothing.

So I tried wires. Disconnecting and reconnecting them again. All of them. Nothing helps. I walk to the parts store and get points since I believe the points aren't moving. Pull the dizzy to find that they are moving. So I swap the points anyways. Slap it back in and nothing still. Get my wife to pick me up so I can then hunt down a coil and condenser. Get those replaced. Nothing. I can smell fuel and there is no sign of any fuel leak so I am almost certain the carb is getting gas.

Could it be that the carb is now dumping too much fuel? I am going to pull the plugs tomorrow and make sure they are dry and clean. The guy I am trading with replaced the plugs when he bought the bus.

So with that, does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be or what to check? Thanks

Run a hot wire from battery to coil, you need spark.

I am getting power to the coil but to clarify, you are talking about taking a wire and running it from the battery to the coil directly and then trying to start it right?

Yes, but you don't need to if you have power to the coil. It's so hard to diagnose a problem from here.
When you set the timing mark on TDC you should be able to loosen and turn the distributor until the points snap,(spark)
If it doesn't spark you're not getting spark to the plugs. Have you tried starting fluid? Does it fire or pop at all? Is the cap cracked or dirty inside like something worn or broken?

Or having a "healthy" GAP on the points! Too small a gap may give a little spark while visually checking it but will not be enough to provide a good spark at the plug.

I checked for a spark at the points yesterday and did not see one which is why I went out and bought a new coil and condenser. Now that i have it home and have all the tools at my house, I will dig more into this. I did not play with the dizzy on moving it but did rotate the engine so the points opened and closed. No spark. I will double check the gap to make sure I set them correctly.
