The term "Full Flow" is used when you pull the oil out of the engine at the pump, run lines to a "real" filter and/or an external cooler, then back into the engine. There is a special pump that does this but only to run the oil through a filter attached to the pump cover and requires NO drilling and tapping for extra fittings. The most common way to full flowing is done by capping the out going port of the pump then drilling and tapping the incoming port on the case for a fitting. The way it is usually done ends up with a fitting that is "too big" and the tin needs to be cut/hammered so as to clear the fitting.

Now, I've seen this on a few engines and may be considering on my next build. It is more involved since it requires a deeper straight thread so you can install a plug dividing the return oil galley in order to pull the oil out and returning it back in and almost the same spot. This eliminates the need to hack the tin resulting in a much cleaner look.

that is pretty cool and thanks for explaining what full flow means. I just thought there was a different oil pump causing more oil to pump through the case and not out of the case.

My only question I have is why is this dude's fingers all dirty and oily if the case is so clean and dry?

This is the most common method, though here a more "compact" fitting is used for the return:




This one is similar to mine in that the brass fitting is fairly BIG, requiring tin hacking:




Again, same as mine, notice here how much grinding must be done to the area close to the rear bearing oil galley (small BLUE plug) just to clear for the BIG brass fitting. I've done this and it is quite scary just worrying not to get too close!
