I'm considering dumping the points in my 1915. Currently running a vacuum adv 009 w/ Duel kadrons.
Runs good but goes through points, seems like I have to continually adjust them. I am thinking
of going to an electronic ignition system. I know not all work with the vacuum advance distributors,
I have plenty of other non-vacuum distributors.

Looking for some advice as to the best way to go, setups, brands etc.

Pertronix.

Compu-fire is like "six of one half a dozen of the other", but I've had both and prefer the Pertronix personally. It's a "set it and forget it" deal and can last forever... or until you connect it wrong, turn the switch and POOF! You burnt it! #-o

Back when I got the Mallory dizzy, it ran on 2 sets of points. Had to order them and cost me nearly a hunnert bux for the damn sets! Ran bitchen until I was on my way to Floriduh and one of the points broke, in the middle of the desert, while crossing Aridzona! :x

Had to swap for the spare 009 to keep going. That was in 2009. Later I got a Pertronix for it and it's been running smoothly ever since.

PyrOman Thanks!!

Do you know if there is any difference between the vacuum adv 009 and a regular 009?

I'm tempted to go with the standard 009 and keep the other for a spare!

Any comments?

I don't know that, but do keep what you have. Just get the Pertronix for it.

Any suggestions on where to purchase the Pertronix for the vacuum adv dist ?
It seems to be rather costly?

Thanks

Whatever you do, DO NOT throw away your points/condenser!!!!!

Keep them in the spare parts bin of your bus! As an electrical item it can fail at any given time, or you can "fail" it by misconnecting it. Having the points at the ready will get you out of a jam.

Well hell! Was gonna post this but you got ahead of me. :-x

(How much was it? Last I checked they were from around $50 to $100) :-k

Foggedit! here it is any way!

Googoolit! Also, check it out at any and all FLAPS. Vee Parts may have it and may also still give you the SV2s discount. Googoolit for the correct part number for your deezee, then ask at your FLAPS if they can order it for you and for how much $$??? It is what it is and you'll get it from the cheapest place that can have it for you.

IIRC, got juan for my '55 Ford F-100 pickemup truck from a NAPA place (in stock) and the juan for the Mallory deezee from another FLAPS (ordered).

Again, whatever you do, make absolutely sure you connect it correctly!!! All it takes is less than half a second to fry it when connected incorrectly!!! BTDT!!!
