You need something else for accelerator cable and yes, it should be a straight as possible.

For some reason I thought he was referring to the clutch cable bowden tube!!! which is bent.
I didn't even know the accelerator cable had a bowden tube!!

While it should be "as straight as possible", it needs to have some "give". Otherwise if there is any "play" on the motor mounts it tends to jerk on the cable and affect the accelerator lever, mostly when "idle cruising", while barely rolling on first gear. Having a bowden tube (I use one from bicycle brakes) makes for a steady and smooth transition throughout the throttle range.

I spent some more time working on my accelerator pedal issues over the weekend. I definitely have some crud built up in the accelerator cable tube that is preventing the cable from moving freely. I tried spraying some break cleaner into the tube to loosen it up, but it didn't work. Looks like my next step is to find a cable small enough to fit in the tube and thick enough to push the crud out. I saw a post from Bill May saying that an old clutch cable works well for this.

After you get the old cable in the tube, put a drill on it and slowly spin that thing.

The saga continues. I picked up as thick a steal cable as could possibly fit into the accelerator cable tube. I ran it the entire length of the tube and spun it on my drill. After pulling it out I fed the accelerator cable back through and I could still feel a little rough spot about midway through the tube. It looks like I may need to replace the entire tube. I see them on Wolfsburgwest for about $60. Before I replace the tube I'm going to try putting in their accelerator pedal rebuild kit and adjusting the alignment of my carburetor linkage to see if that allows the cable to move a little more freely.

Tried to search in thedrambadotcom for the "dual carb throttle cable set up for Turbo_g but was unsuccessful.

This is all I got.

The dual cable set up uses a single cable coming from the accelerator pedal but turns into 2 cables that pull wheels at the carb throttles at the same time, thus eliminating the need for a linkage and its adjustment to synchronize the carbs. :???:

Thanks Ivan, but you misunderstood my question. I was looking for the assembly that replaced the rod and pivot at the pedal end of the line. There is an upgrade with sealed bearings that is supposed to make the accelerator smooth and silky.

They had them at BBB19 and at either Featherly or Prado...

I've sent an email off to the guy who makes them, let's see what he says.

You can see the bus assembly on their OLD website at Unique Parts dot com.

Look back into THIS thread! It is here!

Got a call from Ron who makes the upgraded pedal assemblies, they don't make the bus one anymore, only the bug ones. Oh well...

Except it's NOT. The one shown is NOT the assembly I was looking for. Thanks for pointing out the obvious and mistaking it for what you thought I meant.

Well hell!

Anyway, I have had this idea on how to make a pedal linkage "similar" to the one pictured but using a wheel which would be actuated through a rack & pinion set up. :-k

I do have the "picture" in my head. Have to put it on paper and most likely with the help of Crazy John and his machinery, bring it to fruition.

From thedrambadotcom's gallery, this:

The pictures intend to show a very good fix to a common problem. As talked about here before, that is what happens when there is NO bowden tube in place for the accelerator cable.
