Thought more participants would chime in here!?!

Anyway, my guess is that WAY TOO MANY shims were used in this set up. Obvious from both the arm studs as well as the adjusters sitting all the way down! Not to mention an excessive "wind up" in rpms contributing to the improper geometry causing all rockers to come off the rods. I bet that if this person was running stock valve covers, the rockers were smacking the hell out of it! Prolly the reason why you see oil all over the TOP and bottom of the area. :-k

Most already know what this is, specially if you attended the last meeting. So I'll just say it! This was 4th gear until it became neutral!!!

Pat was kind enough to bring it to the meeting as a "gift" for me. =D>

Will go in my colection of "souveniers"!

Didn't want to start a new thread, so here's an example of "DO NOT BUY ANYTHING THAT LOOKS LIKE THIS". Yes, someone in thedrambedotcom did fall for it. #-o

And if after looking at these pictures you STILL have to ask "Why?", then DEFINITELY do not buy anything without first asking someone here with some sort of knowledge. [-X

I got one too. Doesn't have "Gene Berg" plastered all over it but works just the same! Thanks.

I have flywheels up the ying yang if you want one, gratis, its yours.

I might take one but ONLY if it has "Gene Berg" stamped on it! [-(

How about I write "Gene Berg" on it with a felt tip marker? Or better yet, we can have Yogi autograph it with his face.

you have a lot of issues, for the guy that gave the Gene Berg flywheel fixture for free to me Dan Epperly. Geez Pyro thinks i bought it.

and pyro forgot it is the Gene Berg setup that helped him fix broken valve spring in his bus, without pulling head or engine. #-o =P~

biggest issue i see is= cylinder tin is not type used in a 63-67 beetle or 1963-1967 bus.and is missing at least 5 pieces of tin work.
a smaller issue is = he did not use a 3/8" ratchet extension to roll the edge of pushrod tube for clearance for pushrod after head torque was done.

No. Just NO shifting whatsoever!!!

In my case, back in Puerto Rico, it was my turn at carpooling to work. At 5:30 in the morning approaching a toll booth, it goes SNAP and I have a "free floating" shifter! So, while getting all the sh!t from the crew, I get under it to check things out. :-k After a couple of minutes and more harrassment from above, I deviced a "solution". Took a wire hanger from the closet, shoved it this way and that way in order to hold the shifter rod against the shifter and away we were!

Being in the island, I drove it like that for about 6 months while waiting for the ordered part to show up!

My engine has not been running well. It is going through gas, idle is hard to adjust, poor power, lack of acceleration, and let's say the sound of a vw engine is varoom,, it goes varoom-varoom-varoom-pop, varoom-varoom-varoom-pop, varoom-varoom-varoom-pop . varoom-varoom-varoom-pop. I could keep going but I'm pretty sure you got the picture, and you all said varoom 14 times, ...................and some of you even counted them!

Anyway I found the problem, can you guess what it was?

There ya go. The rubber cap on the vacuum opening on the manifold was no where to be found.
The bus runs great once again!!
