Trying to decide which size tire to install on the bug, I looked at a bunche vehicles (mostly bugs) to see how different tire sizes fit in them. Finally made up my mind but then I wondered how would they affect the speed & odometer reading. Using
Discount Tire's website, found a cool feature where you enter the "current" tire size and the tire size you want to use, then it compares the 2 on
sidewall height, section width, overall diameter, circumference, and revolutions per mile. It even calculates the difference in speed reading vs actual speed of the "new" tire.
Go to
Tire Calculator and plug in your numbers. The difference in speed reading for my new tires is a mere -2.36mph so if it's reading 65mph I know it's actually going a bit slower than that.
