In referrence to a question posted in thedrambadotcom's forum, I figured this picture was missing from the IRS build. It shows the shock absorder mounting. I drilled through the chassis and used some spacers to bolted properly. Works extremely well. The use of coil-over shocks is not vital but they do serve me well since I carry a heavy load AND pull a trailer when camping.

Just stumbled into these pix in thedrambadotcom's gallery. Though they refer to a particular brand of CV joint, I believe the detail shown indictates proper installation of any CV joint.

Quote:
Requested the drawing from the GKN Lobro Factory to get the correct orientation for installation due to conflicting opinions. Per GKN Lobro the single line side goes to the shaft, the three line side toward the flange. The single line side also has a chamfer cut in the center hub, the three line side center of the hub is flat cut with no chamfer.

Sorry to hear that your head is so full... that it cannot handle any other info. But FWIW, from an email I got from Groucho Bill = "ivan, this is a friend of mine from wisconsin." The guy chronicles his newly acquired single cab and the ensuing project. Maybe others will be able to absorb the info/story without having their heads explode! Image

I often wonder about those. They do get some serious punishment on drive shafts so I can't see them "failing" as drive axles!?! :-k

Datsun 510s had them as well as Corvettes. Also there are at least a couple of set ups like that on different buses in thedrambadotcom's gallery. :???:
