I need an engine for my camper, but I don't have the time nor space to build one right now. What is everybody's opinion of Kline? Is there anybody else? I'm looking for a 1600 dual port. What does everybody recommend?

Thanks,
Aaron

I have never bought a long block, only built my own, however, my son in law got one from Kline maybe 8 years ago or so, after 1 month he had to take it back, the cam came apart, to there credit, they did fix it. I personally would not use Kline. Just me! I'm sure there are a lot of happy customers from Kline!

Do you have any parts (case, crank etc.) for a core?

You get what you pay for. They use used parts on their budget engines. Is CB Performance or CIP still selling factory long blocks from Mexico? I've had very good luck with those in the past.

Kenyon Machine in PB sells long blocks with parts similar to what Kline puts in. For the prices they both charge for long blocks ($495/$595) you are going to get used parts. The clean up the heads, perhaps new rings and/or bearings, and bolt it up.
I have not purchased from either but have met many people who have. Kline sells a lot of engines to the buggy crowd, some of which care more about going fast than on long term reliability. I have known several people who have used Kenyon and are happy with their work.

As Splitter Dan says...you get what you pay for.

I'm having one built as we speak from Kenyon, My Ghia engine came from a guy in Riverside, I bought it 2 years ago at the Big 3,(Tom's VW parts and motors,1-949-296-5832) my single cab engine came from Bear's.(I think they're closed now)
I have a friend who has Kline do his Formula Vee engine's and likes their work. BUT, He talks to the guys there and gets what he pays for?
The people I've heard complain are the one's who want a engine cheap.
I prefer to buy a rebuilt long block with new heads, pistons and barrels.
When I was at Kenyon they had a complete turn-key single port at a reasonable price on the shelf ready to go.
I like a engine you can push in and drive?

Hmmm, I may have to go this route. I miss driving the camper.
