Yes....another question!

Will the Bay Westy Child cot (that goes over the front bench seat in a camper) fit right into a splitty without modification or cutting/welding the rods/bars?

I know the brackets changed from split to bay, and I'm pretty sure "the inside front cab with is wider on the bay", (hence the rods would be longer) but not absolutely sure. Does anyone know or has anyone tried to modify the cot rails to fit a splitty?

Bay window cot will fit splity but certain mods need to be made....
1. Cot material needs to be modified.
2. Front rod needs to be cut.

Lance has a modified bay cot, I have a modified cot and the Club bus has a modified cot.

Lance has a modified bay cot, I have a modified cot and the Club bus has a modified cot.

The cot that I am loaning to the club bus is an unmodified (unless Bill modified it in the last couple of years) bay window cot. The poles are from a late ('78 or '79?) bay and each is made of two pieces that fit together and can be adjusted for the slightly narrower split bus. When I put the canvas on the poles, there was extra material scrunched on the ends but it could be installed. I didn't have enough time to modify it before BBB X and Aurora thought it was great.

I think I know where there is a completely original child's cot from a 69 that might be available - at the right price - to a new home.

OK, this next one may be hard for you Jay.
I need to find the cot which is somewhere in the garage. This may take a day or two to excavate around and see if I can locate it.
You are going to need to be patient, calm, and at peace for a little while.

Should I find it the value is somewhat above both peanuts and beer. I'll let you know.

Sorry to report that after doing a thorough excavation in the part of the garage where I "know" the cot was last seen I could not find it. You may want to start looking on the Samba. If you take your time and "work" the sellers you will get a decent one at a fair price. Do remember that the canvas (if original) is going to be at least 30 years old. I'd replace it if anyone I cared about will be sleeping on it.

OK....

question then...would you recommend then just getting new canvas and sewing it up based on the new dimensions?

Bill said that the canvas would have to be modified anyway....Bill?

If that is the case then I will just buy the rods and the brackets...thoughts?

I have at least 3 bay window cots in my garage, ( I know where they are too)
I would be willing to part with one for $25.
I'm pretty sure thats what I paid for the last one?
I used to have the mounting brackets?? I'm sure I don't know where they are though???

The split version of the child's cot brackets are also called Footman's Loops, available at West Marine and probably a bunch of other places. They must have recently changed their suppliers because now the picture in the catalog looks a little different. They were exactly the same last year. If you go to a store, they may have some of the old style left.

I know I had those cots on the back of a shelf in my garage for years????????
As soon as I went to look for them, they're gone.
I have looked in the truck, trailer, storage box and the garage, I just can't seem to find them.
It is possible I took them to the swap meet while doing a cleaning session, I don't know.
I will be at the meeting Friday but without the cots.
I am really sorry, I thought for sure they were on the shelf.

I'm hoping by posting this, they will turn up tomorrow............
