OK may of you know I've been working on finishing my masters for the last two years and in May, I'll be DONE

WOOOHOOOOOOOO

This semester I'm taking my LAST CLASS at 3 units. SDSU Charges $50 more for 6 Units so I decided to take a FUN Class, Web Design or Web-based Multimedia Development

So SV2s.com will be one of my projects to enhance and make the site better for It's users. How cool is that I get a grade for working on a site I enjoy working on anyways and get to make SV2s.com a better site.

Last night I learned a few shortcuts to make it easier for me to update the site and It was only the first meeting. My class is Thursday nights so that's when I'll be making the updates on the site. So look out for some subtle and not so subtle changes to the site. I won't be working on the site any other time so I can spend more quality time with the fam, Candice likes this part.

No more working on the site late at night, or on the weekends. EVERY Thursday I'll be updating the site. So stay tuned.........
A better sv2s.com
COMING SOON

Do you actually get to take a laptop to school and do it in class? How cool is THAT? Does that mean we won't be able to access some stuff on Thursdays while you're fiddling with the site?

Follow this advice to keep nosie eyes on there own computers.

1. Make sure the guy who is annoying you, can see the screen.

2. Close your eyes and tilt your head up to the sky.

Sounds great! I love to see new things. I always had my bookmark on the forum page bypassing the main page until you took over the site now I log onto the main page every time just incase something new is there. Try starting withe the Carona emoticons for PyrO. I can't wait to see the changes.

 How about starting a list of ideas, I'll start.

Great....but please keep in mind that -- in my opinion -- function trumps art each and every day.

That's mainly what I'll be graded on, the function of the site includes 4 main elements
1. Alignment
2. Proximity
3. repetition
4. Contrast

My point (probably not well expressed due to the late hour of my prior post) was that a site must work and be accessable (sp?) by "customers". We have all seen sites that have some "quite cool" bells and whistles but are near impossible to navigate. SV2s.com has run very well in the past year or so thanks to Dave, Pyro, etc. who do all the work. The club is much better for it.

I look forward to seeing the site makeover.

See y'all tonight.

UPDATE on the site!!!!!

I just spent the last 2 hours re-organizing the site. YOU will NOT notice these changes. This will make it easier for me to make changes. If you find any missing links, let me know here.

Actually, I have to fix ALL the pictures links, so don't tell me about those.
David

Currently re-organizing all the pic. files, some may not work

All the pictures right now are not working. I will fix by Thursday. This is part of the file structure that the proff. wants us to consider.

Thanks for all your work on this, David, and over a holiday weekend at that! I hope at least some of it is fun for you. And you get college units to boot!

OK, the front page has been updated. If you notice, there is less scrolling on the front page, but we still have the What's New and Monthly Events page. If you click on them, it'll take you to those pages.

Just got my grade for the web class................

I GOT AN A WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO

Here are the professors comments
Quote:
Final Project Comments

Content
You have just the right amount of content on this site -- enough for clients or reviewers to be able to tell what it’s going to look like, but not so much that you’ll be loathe to change things like page layout if you discover a flaw in your design.

Information Organization
Excellent job of analyzing audience needs with respect to how you selected and organized the information you presented on your site. I found everything I wanted to know.

Media Elements
Good job of suppling a variety of appropriate media elements for your audience.

Navigation Design
Excellent navigation, I didn’t have any trouble finding my way around your site. You seem to have nicely analyzed how your audience thinks about this content and then designed navigation that facilitates that.

Screen Design
You used the four design principles (alignment, proximity, repetition, and contrast) pretty consistently. The pages are pretty readable. Type Design Pretty good use of type design. You seem to have designed your pages with the elements of good text design in mind, such as type size, style, line length, color, and contrast between type and background.

Site Organization
Good, transparent organization of your site -- I knew just where to look for different things. This skill will serve you well both in this program and in the “real world” as you collaborate with others who need to understand the structure of a site and where to find things.

General Comments
Excellent project, over all. This is certainly something you wouldn’t be embarrased to show to a prospective client or employer. Keep up the great work! David, your Strictly Vintage 2s web site is terrific, I’m sure the club will appreciate it greatly!
