William, Mr. Dan the stock nazi guru was not able to post a comment (maybe The powers that be can fix it)??

He pm'ed me with a comment and asked me to post it for him.

"Hey old timer, I am following the thread on SV2s but can't post about Williams bus. If you are willing you can copy and paste this.
That is an unusual combo with the early tent. A huge score really. Looks like he is missing the toilet tent poles, they are telescopic and pointed and a bitch to find real ones. Which means that it originally came with the chemical toilet, a galvanized bucket with a wood seat.
There is no bracket for the rear bumper. There should be a hole drilled into it below the crease. The L shaped threaded rod fits in there and a knurled nut keeps it in place.
There should be a child cot that fits over the front seat. The poles are black and the canvas green. You can use fat chick poles but they will have to be cut down, but his kids are too big anyway for it.
He is also missing the cooler obviously. Pricey item. Sergio always seems to have them though...
From what I saw everything else seems to be there."

Thanks Dan!

Greg had told me about the bumper location for the pole and that there isn't a bracket. Makes sense on the hole in the bumper now. I have the telescopic poles for the toilet tent. I just didn't tie it down. I spoke with Greg (text really) about the nuts to secure the poles to the bus for the tent. I have one but missing the other. I am not worried about the toilet but that would be cool to find and add to the bus. I have the poles for the child cot but no canvas. I might make my own if I can find someone that is willing to loan me theirs.

Your comment on the unusual combo with the early tent. What did you mean by that?

I PMd on FB, but FYI for EOEWC*
Most SO42s came with the big top tent, which looks a lot like the bay window tends minuscule the floor. In 65 you had the option of two types of kits, the typical SO 42 style but also the SO 33 style with a subhatch. Those cam will with the mounts for them hanging tent like William has, so to have the hanging tent AND the 42 kit is unusual, hence cool, in the world of VW camping nerds.

For Christmas I asked for one of these windshield covers...

I hope to have it very soon since it was a special order. He can't get the velvet green material anymore. \:D/

So I told the wife that when it comes in, I will need to take the bus camping to try it out.

So in an attempt to have a support pole for the tent, I bought some PVC pipes hoping this would be strong enough. Though I made it fit, the pipe just wasn't strong enough to support the canvas so it looks like I will have to move to a metal pipe. Oh well.

Galvanized conduit at Lowes works. You'll have to have someone weld the T fittings on and figure some way to connect the two halves unless you use a single pole.
