I'll tell you what, I learned a TON on how to camp with a VW bus! My tent I set up did not hold up to that wind and rain and it flooded out within an hour of the storm starting. We ended up cramming into the bus, which is not a camper, for the rest of the night. It was cold, but at least we were dry. In the morning I found that the tent was still there, but had two inches of water in the bottom of it...

I took some pics of other buses and plan on using them for ideas, i.e. bring a portable generator for lights and a heater.

It was fun while it lasted and my kids saw snow for the first time!

Nice pics, that was a pretty good representation of the weather, only it doesn't show the wind, only the effects of the wind.
The wind was the big issue. Preparation is everything, especially if you have kids. I slept well and stayed warm without me heater.
Great people made this event fun!! On Friday night the campbodians cooked up a storm as usual with plenty of food! Free OJ & coffee at the clubhouse, I believe I had 4-5 cups to warm up.

Thanks again Sergio for the KQ hookup!

Since the "Cruise" portion of the event didn't happen because of the weather, I am thinking about organizing a cruise along the planned route in late June since May and early June are pretty busy with VW relate events. I was thinking we could meet up in Descanso and then head north on the dirt road up to Julian where there are a couple microbreweries for beers and lunch and then call it a day. Anyone interested?

Decided to set everything out today in order to dry it all out. Though "wacked" some, the canopy seems to have fared better than I thought! :-o

Quite the pictures you guys are posting. Thanks Chris for giving the warning text not to drive up with the kids. Hopefully we will make it next year.

Hey how come I didn't get a text!
Glad I didn't, we had a lot of fun while we were there. Always great to see everyone and just hangout.

The weather forecast early in the week was the nail in the coffin for me. I'm all for a bit of adventure, but this would not have been much fun with the fam... I was wondering if the Dennis clan was going to punt. Lookin' like you made a good call, Chris!!

Hopefully next year will be better, moved out a month. But last year was awesome, so you just never know.

I'm 100% in for the cruise. I saw the forecast...no way with the fam, especially a one month old. So bummed it turned out like this. Can't wait for next year. Like I said though....all in for the cruise.

I had a good time and glad I went, beats workin!

It's kinda fun just to sit around talkin' Buses. The guys in the "trailer park" from the high desert had some nice Buses and good stories.

I think we have done KQ four times? Three out of four ain't bad. The weather in the past has been perfect, we just missed it by a couple days. At least we will have another story to tell sitting around the smudge pot next year!

Making the best of a bad situation is one thing, but I seriously doubt ANYONE will be saying that! [-X
