sv2s Members, I am going to have a club sponsored event at my shop in May.

It will be a day when we can get together and work on our buses, if your bus doesn't need work we need you to help other club members with their bus.
I know how important it can be to have a helping hand! Plus a BBQ will be there.

At the planning meeting this month it was decided that May would be a good month for this. I will post more details as we get closer.
What I need to do now is choose a Saturday in May that will work for most of the members.

Here are the May Saturday dates:
May 5th, Cinco Day Mayo, I don't believe this date will work
May 12th, This is Mothers Day weekend ( mothers day Sun. 13th), this Sat could be an option??
May 19th, As of now this might be the best day!! BTW it is Armed Forces Day!!
May 26th, this is the beginning of the much waited for .Memorial Day Weekend!! I don't think this date will work.

So your feed back will help in choosing a date, I believe the 2 options are

May 12th
May 19th

I will post all the information here and have it ready for the SV2'S April News Letter

Waha ya think!!

I should think the 19th would be best, as most of us have Mothers but not all of us were/are in the military.

Take a wire, connect it to the solenoid--a long wire-- tuck it in the engine compartment where it is long enough to touch the positive pole of your starter, viola! You have a poor man's hard start relay!!

i did that when i dropped it.
i put a spare ign switch in from david and gave my og ign switch to shawn yesterday at octo. to get to octo i drove the 405 to joe's house in costa mesa with no head lights. i put joe's beetle battery in my bus and put kermit's on joe's charger.
i have to make seat covers for my bus today as david put his seat in mine and needs it back monday. he said "otherwise you will never cover your seat. i wish i had time to check it out as my battery don't seem to charge and i can't start with key.

"Work on Your Bus Day in May" is set for Saturday May 19th. check the April and May news letter for more information.

More information will be posted here as we get closer.
If you have a time consuming project, it would be helpful to know what it is so we can be prepared for it and make sure there will be the person power to gett-er done.

My shop is not a mechanics shop! The area available to work on our buses is a hard packed dirt parking lot in the rear of my shop where I park work vehicles.. There is only a small area that has asphalt in front of my shop (1-2 buses). I do have plywood to lay down for those needing a cleaner floor area, or you can bring some ground cover. I do have means to dispose of oil for those wanting to do an oil change. I have a small welder that I can bring if needed! And of coarse if you have tools it would be appreciated if you can bring some.

Again if we know some of the projects ahead of time we will be more prepared!!
So give me some idea of the projects you have, and who might be there.

There was talk (not me) that maybe we could have a BBQ, could someone hook that up?

You can PM me with questions or to discuss anything regarding this bus work day.

Rust notwithstanding on my Bus (MAJOR understatement and MAJOR undertaking, I realize), I would really like to tackle the long-nagging problem of what's causing my Bus to struggle to start after warming up ("hot" start I guess I'd call it.)

Fires right up when first started or after it's cooled down. But when I go to start it after filling up with gas after only driving from my house to the gas station (5 min drive tops,) it really struggles. I have the Chris Fish® Official Ford™ relay start already installed.

So anyway that's one of the things I'd like to try to tackle...

That is the plan. I will even bring my new vent window locks so we can rivet them in and install them.... if I don't do it before then.
