Alright, this may not be an "official" club event but in years past club members have gone camping for Thanksgiving in the Anza Borrego desert in San Diego. So my question: is there any juan of yous going camping for thanksgiving? :???:

I'd like to know because though I'd join you for the weekend itself (Friday Saturday Sunday), I could also take the Dormy's engine apart and rebuilt it back to 2276 specs, having that whole week off. :-k

Well from what I know, David goes to Butterfield every year for Thanksgiving which is why he offered to head that event. So to answer your question, yes David is camping in the desert that weekend and you are more than welcome to go. Of course I am assuming that things have not changed since I last spoke with David on Oct 15th.

So contact David for more info.

YES
The LPZ FMLY will be camping in the desert(Butterfield most likely)Thanksgiving weekend starting the 24th through the 27. We haven't set up reservations yet, so I don't have pricing info. I will work on that this week.

Butterfield Ranch
$20 per car per night
$25 Per car per night if you want hook-ups
NO RESERVATIONS - FIRST COME FIRST TO GET THE GOOD SPOTS
You pay for yourself when you get there.
The circles are available that weekend but a storm took out one of their transformers so there are no hook-ups. He said we could use a generator if we wanted to.
Here is a map to Butterfield and its sites

This is strictly my opinion, specially since I can't organize my own self let alone any kind of group activity, but here goes...

We don't amount to enough for a ring and they don't have electric power. Also they are not really close to the playground area. I think scoring spots closer to that as well as with electric hook ups would be best. As usual, designate a "community" fire ring and it will all come together. Just sayin'.

First if the main power is out" the club house wont work for cooking, if they even would let us use the oven. so I will cook up a turkey here at home and bring it along. I cook typically around 12-15 pounds. so we may need 2 turkey's" or mabe Bill you can catch one of the wild Turkey's that run around the camp ground"""" [-(

Christine says she likes to cook a turkey, as she has in the past. I'll ask her if she'll do the 2nd one.
