UPDATE ON FIESTA ISLAND

Just had the opportunity to chat with two City Rangers that work on Fiesta Island.

a. The fire rings are still on Fiesta Island. They won't be removed until July 1st. They have funding for the maintenance on the through June 30th.
b. While the rings are still there, they are really enforcing the rules about the wood you burn. Namely no paint, no nails, no green wood (i.e. fresh cut), no pressure treated wood, no pallets (unless unpainted and all nails, screws and hardware removed). Fines for violating these rules are steep--in the hundreds of dollars.
c. No alcohol and no glass bottles.

So it looks like Fiesta Island is a possibility once again.

Good grief! Pyro alone breaks about 90 percent of those rules. Wait. 100 percent, he drinks beer in bottles, right?
But seriously, who would go if you can't drink and burn green wood??

Reminds me of a photo in a newspaper some ages ago of a sign at the entrance of a beach in some state. I wish I could find it. Anyway it was huge and read something like this:

First line was PROHIBITED ON THE BEACH followed by no running, no rough housing, no ball playing, no fires, no digging holes, no bikes, no dogs, .... It was like ten lines long, you'd think it and it just couldn't be done there, and finally it read "Have a nice day!"
